The Active Magazine | Website Design
BJ Creative was tasked by Chris Meadows to build a website for his concept idea of a local sport and leisure magazine. The idea was to produce the magazine and distribute for free, and also share the magazine online via Issuu.
We began the project by working up some design concepts for Chris to take a look at. The whole essence of the site had to come from the magazine so that the two had a unity.
Web Design
The site has been built using ASP.NET 3.5. There was a restriction on the hosting that prevented us from using ASP.NET 4.0, but we managed to work past this and provide Chris with the ideal site for his needs.
Launch Date
Before the magazine launched, the website was setup to be a teaser so that people could see a sneak peak of what was to come. The site also showed clear guidelines for advertisers as to what size they would need to produce their adverts for the website.
The Build
We built the site using ASP.NET 3.5 and incorporated a contact page and used Master Pages throughout the site. This enabled faster amending of the details that were used throughout, such as the social media links and when it was introduced, the Cookie Law solution that we had to implement.
Cookie Law
Due to the recent European Cookie Law, the site had to be amended so that it was "legal" on the grounds of placing cookies for tracking the number of visitors and what pages they were interested in viewing. This sort of information is vital to maintain the website and ensure that the best content is easily viewed across devices.
The site was initially hosted by BJ Creative on our server so that changes could be amended quickly at our end and this also then enabled us to managed the domains chosen for the website.
